NEBRASKA – AAA the Auto Club Group says it will be a busy Memorial Day Weekend for people traveling.

They predict that 42.8 million people will travel by air, ship, rail, and car this holiday period making it the second-highest Memorial Day weekend travel volume on record since they began tracking data in 2000.

For those traveling by car, it’s the highest number on record for this holiday period with some 37.6 million people hitting the roadways. Rose White, the Public Affairs Director for AAA, says it’s best to prepare before heading out.

We do advise all travelers to visit the 511 information site. Here in Nebraska, you can go to www.511.nebraska.gov. And there you’ll find a wealth of information that will show you the routes that are under construction, the bridges that are out, provide detour information, plus you can use the downloadable application so you can have that on your phone and have that access no matter where you’re traveling. And so if you go to other states, they have similar 511 information sites.

AAA and Budwieser will also be offering their Tow 2 Go service this holiday weekend. Tow 2 Go is a service for people who need a ride after having too much to drink and don’t have a safe ride home.

You can call 1-800-TOW-2-GO or you can visit aaa.com for more information.
