Alice Cooper is one of many well-known hard-rock artists who will perform on a live-streamed fundraising event hosted by Megadeth bassist David Ellefson that will support his Youth Music Foundation’s “School’s Out” initiative, which provides online music lessons to students amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The performance lineup features more than 50 artists, including Cooper, Alice’s touring guitarist Nita Strauss, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of Run-DMC, members of popular country group the Zac Brown Band, and such hard rockers as Anthrax‘s Charlie Benante, Megadeth’s Dirk Verbeuren and Kiko Loureiro and Five Finger Death Punch‘s Chris Kael.
Additionally, actors including Drake Bell, Seinfeld‘s “Soup Nazi” Larry Thomas, The Walking Dead‘s Lew Temple and Brian O’Halloran of Clerks will be making appearances.
“Oh Say Can You Stream” will be held in partnership with the Grammy Music Education Coalition. In addition to supporting “School’s Out,” the benefit will raise money for several COVID-19 relief charities.
In other news, the 2018 NBC special Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, which featured Cooper as King Herrod and starred John Legend in the title role, will be rebroadcast on Easter Sunday this weekend at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT.
