The Prince Estate will host a special three-day livestream event beginning this Thursday, May 14, that will include the screening of Prince and the Revolution: Live, a concert film capturing a March 1985 performance at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York.
The show took place during Prince and his band The Revolution‘s Purple Rain Tour, and was the first live concert footage the iconic entertainer officially released for television broadcast and on home video.
The streaming event, which will be viewable on Prince’s YouTube channel, will kick off at 5 p.m. ET Thursday with a pre-show Q&A session featuring Revolution drummer Bobby Z. The watch party for Prince and the Revolution: Live will then begin at 6 p.m. ET and will be viewable on YouTube until 12:59 a.m. ET on Monday, May 18.
The event is being presented in celebration of the audio release this Friday, May 15, of Prince and the Revolution: Live digitally and via streaming services. In conjunction with the watch party, viewers are being asked to donate to the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. For every dollar donated by viewers, Google.org will match $2 up to $5 million.
