Taylor Swift breaks her silence on the leaked Kanye call, reminds fans “what really matters”

Taylor Swift is breaking her silence after video of her entire, unedited call with Kanye West was leaked over the weekend, proving she was telling the truth about what she did and didn’t know about his song, “Famous.”

Taylor took to her Instagram Story and used her response to bring attention to a good cause.

“Instead of answering those who are asking how I feel about the video footage that leaked, proving that I was telling the truth the whole time about *that call* (you know the one that was illegally recorded, that somebody edited and manipulated in order to frame me and put me, my family and fans through hell for 4 years)…”

“SWIPE UP to see what really matters,” Taylor wrote, providing a link to donate to Feeding America.

In her next slide, Taylor continued, “The World Health Organization and Feeding America are some of the organizations I’ve been donating to. If you have the ability to, please join me in donating during this crisis.”

The leaked video of the Kanye call shows that the rapper never told Taylor he was planning to call her a “b****” in the song, something Taylor had maintained all along. On Saturday, #KanyeWestIsOverParty was trending on social media, and so was #TaylorToldtheTruth.

But even though Taylor didn’t name names — not that she had to — Kim Kardashian chimed in Monday night, claiming Taylor had “chosen to reignite an old exchange” and that she is, in fact, “actually lying.”

Kim goes on to write, “To be clear, the only issue I ever had around the situation was that Taylor lied through her publicist who stated that ‘Kanye never called to ask for permission…’ They clearly spoke so I let you all see that. Nobody ever denied the word ‘b****’ was used without her permission.”

Kim also denied editing the footage, saying she “only posted a few clips on Snapchat to make my point and the full video that recently leaked doesn’t change the narrative.”

As for recording Taylor “illegally,” Kim says Kanye documents the making of all of his albums for his “personal archive” and she would never have made it public had Taylor not forced her hand.

Kim concludes the lengthy Twitter response, writing, “This will be the last time I speak on this because honestly, nobody cares. Sorry to bore you all with this. I know you are all dealing with more serious and important matters.”

In response to Kim, Taylor’s publicist Tree Paine posted her original statement on the matter. “I’m Taylor’s publicist and this is my UNEDITED original statement. Btw, when you take parts out, that’s editing,” she wrote, adding, “P.S. who did you guys piss off to leak that video?”
