Adams Central Public School Board Approved Interlocal Agreement for Highway 6

HASTINGS – After years of problems with the Highway 6 and Adams Central Avenue intersection, the Adams Central Public School Board approved an interlocal agreement with Adams County and the Nebraska Department of Transportation to pay 15.75 percent of the project, not to exceed $520,000, to change the intersection into a roundabout. Adams County will pay for 23.64 percent of the project, not to exceed $780,000.

Superintendent Shawn Scott says it’s great to see all these entities work together.

The nice thing with that is that two local entities that worked together, hand in hand to try and find a solution for this. You look back, Adams Central has been working on this intersection and trying to make it safer for at least four decades. So when you sit down and you look at this and something finally happened, it was great. I appreciate the Adams County Board of Supervisors, the Adams County Road Superintendent, everybody working together to come up with a solution.

The project is expected to be completed by the summer of 2020.
