Grand Island Public Schools Closes Down School Amid Coronavirus Concerns

GRAND ISLAND – Grand Island Public Schools has made the decision to close starting on Monday, March 16. This closure is for everything at school: all student activities, athletics, fine arts, clubs and meetings are canceled until further notice. They said they will communicate with the community frequently and this may be a several week closure. Because schools can have dense populations, closing can prevent students from spreading the virus to others in their families and the community. They will begin working on an online program to continue classes. They are also making a food program for students who are food insecure.
