Hasting City Council Moves Forward With ADA Compliant Ramps On Sidewalks

HASTINGS – The Hastings City Council moved forward with plans to make the city more ADA compliant and handicap accessible. They approved a grant application from the Development Services Department for a Community Development Block Grant.

The City of Hastings is requesting $43,000 for ADA compliant sidewalks and ramps throughout the city. The city will provide $14,000 from the general fund to fulfill the match requirements for the grant.

No one will be displaced and no taxes will change due to this. The city plans to install or reconstruct 88 curb ramps throughout Hastings.

Don Threewitt, the Director of Development Services, says that they believe this is a need.

The council also approved an update to the existing Local Emergency Operations Plan and approved more development for the North Park Commons area.
