HASTINGS – The Hastings City Council approved a $205,000 grant for SHABRI, LLC at Monday’s city council meeting.
The grant will be requested by the Hastings Economic Development Corporation from the Community Development Block Grant and loaned to SHABRI, LLC. SHABRI, LLC owns Innovative Prosthetics and Orthotics and they will expand and relocate to the former Village Inn property.
Lori Ferguson, with the South Central Economic Development District, explains what else this money will go towards.
It is a project that will fund SHABRI, LLC to do some company expansion. They’ll create six additional new jobs. Of which a majority of those will be either filled by or made available to low to moderate income citizens in Hastings. Once those jobs are created and the requirements satisfied there will be a repayment of approximately %50 of that grant and the other half will be forgiven.
The total project cost will be approximately 1.2 million dollars.
Also approved at the meeting was an approval of the water purchase agreement with Sanitary and Improvement District Number 1 of Clay County.
This was the second to last meeting of the year for the Hastings city council. At the next meeting, the new council members will be sworn in for next year.
