The Nebraska football team is preparing for Saturday’s game at Minnesota. The Gophers are 5-0 on the season after last weeks 40-17 win over Illinois. Minnesota has relied on an explosive offense that is averaging 35 points and 410 yards per game. Defensively, Minnesota gives up 27 points and 314 yards per game. Nebraska beat Minnesota 53-28 last year in Lincoln. Kickoff will be at 6:30pm. Pre-game coverage begins at 1:30pm on “The Breeze,” KLIQ 94.5FM.
The Hastings College volleyball team lost to 8th ranked Midland last night at Lynn Farrell Arena. The scores were 29-27, 19-25, 23-25, 19-25. Danielle Bruha had 15 kills for the Broncos. Hastings is now 8-10 on the season, 3-5 in the conference. They’ll play host to Morningside on Saturday. First serve will be at 3:00pm.
The Hastings College men’s soccer team beat Doane 3-1 last night in Crete. The Broncos are now 9-0-1 on the season, 5-0 in the conference. They’ll play host to Concordia on Saturday. Game time will be at 8:00pm.
The Hastings College women’s soccer team also beat Doane 3-1. The Broncos are now 9-2, 5-1 in the conference. They’ll also play host to Concordia on Saturday. Game time will be at 5:30pm.
The Hastings College soccer teams continue to be ranked in the nation’s top 25 polls. The men are fifth and the women are 14th.
Action at the C-4 District Softball Tournament at the Smith Complex has been postponed for today. Games will resume Saturday at noon. Hastings St. Cecilia will play Central City in the winners bracket final. The Hawkettes beat Blue Hill 8-0 yesterday. Natalie Kissinger was the winning pitcher. She gave up four hits and struck out 12 in five innings. Offensively, Kissinger had two hits and two rbi’s. Bailey Kissinger also had two hits. St. Cecilia is now 23-7.
The C-6 Sub District Tournament at Kearney has also been postponed until Saturday. Cozad and Kearney Catholic will play in the winner’s bracket final at noon. The Stars beat Southern Valley/Alma 9-1 yesterday while the Haymakers downed Ord 11-4.
Hastings High and Adams Central will play in the Class B District Finals on Saturday. The Tigers will host Blair in a three game series at the Smith Complex while Adams Central will play at Wayne.
MLB> It’ll be St. Louis against Washington in the National League Championship Series. The Cardinals scored ten runs in the first inning and blasted Atlanta 13-1 last night while the Nationals knocked off the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-3. Game one of the NLCS is set for tomorrow night.
Tonight, its game five of the American League Division Series, as Tampa Bay plays at Houston. The New York Yankees wrapped up the other series on Monday with a 5-1 win over Minnesota.
