The Nebraska volleyball team will play at Penn State tomorrow. The Huskers are 15-2, 6-1 in the conference after their win on Wednesday against Indiana. First serve will be at 7:00pm. Pre-game show will be at 6:30pm on “The Breeze,” KLIQ 94.5FM.
The Nebraska women’s soccer team will host Michigan tonight and Michigan State on Sunday.
James Palmer Junior of Nebraska has been named to the preseason All Big Ten Team. Palmer averaged 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists for the Huskers last season. He reached double figures in 31 of 33 games, including a career high 34 points against Ohio State.
The Hastings College football team will play host to Midland tomorrow at Lloyd Wilson Field. The Broncos are 3-3 on the season, 1-3 in the conference after last weeks 22-19 win over Doane. The Warriors are 4-2, 2-2 in the conference. Midland averages 36 points and 427 yards per game. They’re led by quarterback Payton Nelson who has thrown for 1208 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. He has also rushed for 456 yards and four scores. Kickoff will be at 1:00pm. Pre-game show begins at noon on 1230AM KHAS.
The Hastings College volleyball team and the soccer teams will be in Sioux City to play Briar Cliff tomorrow.
The Nebraska-Kearney sports teams will also be busy this weekend. The football team will play at Northwest Missouri State on Saturday. The volleyball team will host Misosuri Southern State tonight and Southwest Baptist on Saturday.
Karlie Chonis hit a one out, two run walk off homer in the eighth inning to power Omaha Gross to a 12-10 win over Hastings High last night in the elimination game of the Class B State Softball Tournament at the Smith Complex. The Tigers overcame a 6-0 deficit and even took the lead in the seventh inning before bowing out of the tournament. Kaelon Schultz had two home runs and six rbi’s for the Tigers. Hastings ends the season 27-14.
The State softball tournament continues today. In Class A, Papillion LaVista and Millard South will meet in the winner’s bracket final at 9:00am this morning. In Class B, it’ll be Elkhorn against Omaha Skutt. The Class C winner’s bracket final at 11:30am will pit Wayne against Arlington. Championship games are set for this afternoon.
St. Paul won the Lou Platte Conference Volleyball Tournament last night. The Wildcats won the title for the third year in a row with a win over Doniphan/Trumbull. The scores were 25-21, 25-17, 25-21 Centura beat Wood River in the consolation match 25-16, 25-19, 25-20.
In other action, Hastings St. Cecilia beat Sandy Creek 25-8, 25-5, 25-14. The Hawkettes are now 18-7.
In high school football action tonight, Hastings St. Cecilia will play at Doniphan Trumbull on 1230AM KHAS. On “The Breeze,” KLIQ 94.5FM, Hastings High travels to Beatrice, and on ESPN 1550 KICS, Kearney Catholic is at Adams Central.
