The Nebraska football team will battle Northwestern on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. The Wildcats are 1-3 on the season, 0-2 in the conference after last week’s 24-15 loss to Wisconsin. Hunter Johnson leads the team in passing with 43 completions for 367 yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Drake Anderson has 305 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Defensively, Northwestern gives up 21.5 points and 318 yards per game. Kickoff will be at 3:00pm. Pre-game coverage begins at 10:00am on “The Breeze,” KLIQ 94.5FM.
The Nebraska volleyball team will play at Rutgers tonight. The Huskers are 10-1 on the season, 2-0 in the conference. The Scarlet Knights are 6-7 overall, 0-2 in the league. Nebraska is 6-1 all time against Rutgers, including a three game sweep in Lincoln last year. First serve will be at 6:00pm. The Hastings College volleyball team will host Concordia tonight at Lynn Farrell Arena. The Broncos have been off since last Wednesday’s loss to Midland. The Bulldogs are 15-2 on the season, 4-2 in the conference. First serve will be at 7:30pm.
The Hastings College women’s soccer team will host the College of St. Mary’s tonight at Lloyd Wilson Field. Gametime is set for 7:00pm.
In high school volleyball last night, Northwest beat Adams Central 16-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-17. The Patriots are now 10-10. Hastings St. Cecilia is now 19-1 after picking up three wins in the St. Cecilia Tournament last night. The Hawkettes beat Heartland, Cross County and Wood River.
In other action, Aurora defeated Lexington, Grand island Central Catholic swept Kearney Catholic, Lincoln East got by Kearney, Lincoln Southeast beat Grand Island and Milford defeated Sandy Creek,
Rain washed out all of the high school softball action yesterday including Hastings at Kearney, Blue Hill at Hastings St. Cecilia and Adams Central’s Triangular at York. District play gets underway next week. The State Tournament is set for October 16-18 at the Smith Complex in Hastings.
MLB> The Washington Nationals beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 last night in the National League Wild Card game. Washington will move on to play the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Divisional Series beginning on Thursday. The American League Wild Card game will be played tonight as Tampa Bay plays at Oakland. First pitch will be at 7:00pm. We’ll have it on ESPN 1550 KICS beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30pm.
