Local Sports 10-3-2019

The Nebraska football team will be without one of their best defenders when they take on Northwestern on Saturday.  The Big Ten Conference has suspended defensive lineman Khalil Davis for one game for violating the Big Ten’s Sportsmanship Policy.  Davis struck an Ohio State player midway through the first quarter in Saturday’s game.  Davis has 17 tackles, 6 tackles for loss and three quarterback sacks so far this season.

 

The Nebraska volleyball team won its fourth straight match with a win over Rutgers last night.  The scores were 25-16, 25-15, 25-14. Lexi Sun had a match high 12 kills for the Huskers.  Nebraska is now 11-1 on the season, 3-0 in the conference.  They’ll play host to Wisconsin on Saturday beginning at 7:00pm.  We’ll have it on 1230AM KHAS beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30pm.

 

The Nebraska women’s soccer team will play at Iowa tonight.  The Huskers are 3-6-2 on the season, 2-2 in the conference.  Game time will be at 7:00pm.

 

The Hastings College volleyball team beat Concordia University last night at Lynn Farrell Arena.  The scores were 25-20, 25-19, 22-25, 25-16.  Emily Krolikowski led the way with eight kills.  Hastings is now 8-8 on the season, 3-3 in the conference.  They’ll play at the College of St. Mary’s on Saturday.

 

The Hastings College women’s soccer team used three first half goals to beat the College of St. Mary’s 3-0 last night at Lloyd Wilson Field.  Hastings is now 7-2 on the season, 3-1 in the conference.  They’ll play host to Jamestown on Saturday.

 

The Hastings College women’s soccer team is ranked 14th in this weeks NAIA Coaches Top 25 Poll.  Midland is ranked 25th.  Keiser of Florida is ranked number one.

 

The Hastings College men’s soccer team has moved up to number five in the latest Coaches Poll.  The Broncos are 7-0-1 on the season.  Central Methodist of Missouri is ranked number one.

 

MLB> Tampa Bay beat Oakland 5-1 last night in the American League Wild Card game.  Yandy Diaz hit two home runs for the Rays.  Tampa Bay will move on to play Houston in the American League Division Series.  The National League Division Series will get started today.  In the first game, St. Louis will play at Atlanta followed by Washington at the LA Dodgers.

 

NFL> In the NFL tonight, the Los Angeles Rams are at Seattle.  Kickoff at 7:20pm.  We’ll have it on ESPN 1550 KICS beginning with the pre-game show at 7:00pm.
