Alabama is still ranked number one in the latest AP College Football Poll.  The Crimson Tide are 9-0 on the season after Saturday’s 29-0 win over LSU.  Clemson is second followed by Notre Dame, Michigan and Georgia.  Rounding out the top ten are Oklahoma, West Virginia, Ohio State, LSU and Washington State.


Nebraska is now 2-7 on the season, 1-5 in the Big Ten Conference after Saturday’s 36-31 loss to Ohio State.  Adrian Martinez completed 22 of 33 passes for 266 yards.  He also rushed for 72 yards and two touchdowns to finish with 338 yards of total offense.  As a team, Nebraska rolled up 450 yards of total offense. Nebraska will play host to Illinois on Saturday.  Kickoff has been set for 11:00am.


The Nebraska volleyball team went 2-0 over the weekend.  The Huskers beat Penn State on Friday and Rutgers on Saturday to improve to 18-6 on the season, 9-5 in the conference.  They’ll play at Iowa on Wednesday.  First serve will be at 7:00pm.  We’ll have it on “The Breeze,” KLIQ 94.5FM beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30pm.


The Nebraska women’s basketball team beat Nebraska-Kearney 94-41 in an exhibition game on Saturday in Lincoln.  The Huskers outscored the Lopers 30-5 in the first quarter and had six players score in double figures.  Nebraska will open the season on Wednesday against Drake.  UNK will open the season this weekend with games against Minnesota Crookston and Wayne State in Wayne.


The Hastings College men’s basketball team went 2-0 in the 19th annual Cattle Classic hosted by Concordia University.  The Broncos beat Barclays College 118-72 on Friday and upset 25th ranked St. Thomas University 78-76 on Saturday.  Hastings is now 3-1 on the season and will play host to Sterling College tonight.  Tip-off will be at 8:00pm.  We’ll have it on 1230AM KHAS beginning with the pre-game show at 7:45pm.


The Hastings College football team lost to Jamestown 41-39 on Saturday.  Isaiah Jackson completed 18 of 32 passes for 306 yards and three touchdowns.  Hastings is now 4-6 on the season, 2-6 in the conference.  They’ll wrap up the season on Saturday at Dakota Wesleyan.


The Hastings College volleyball team beat Morningside 25-13, 25-16, 25-20 on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the GPAC Tournament.  Hastings will play at Northwestern on Wednesday.


The Hastings College women’s soccer team beat Briar Cliff 5-0 on Saturday in the semifinals of the GPAC Tournament.  The Broncos will host Concordia on Thursday for the championship.


The Hastings College women finished second and the men were eighth at the GPAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday in North Bend.  Heidi Hennings of Hastings finished third overall.  Dordt won the men’s and women’s team titles.


The Nebraska-Kearney football team lost to Missouri Western State 25-17 on Saturday.  The Lopers are now 4-6.  The volleyball team beat Missouri Western State and Northwest Missouri State over the weekend to improve to 30-2 on the season.  They’ll play Missouri Western State again on Tuesday in the first round of the MIAA Tournament.  .


Hastings St. Cecilia will play Blue Hill on Thursday in the first round of the State Volleyball Championships in Lincoln.  The Hawkettes won the district title on Saturday with a win over Milford while the Bobcats took care of Centennial. The match will be held at Lincoln Southwest beginning at 1:30pm.  In some other matchup’s Northwest will play top seeded Elkhorn South at 3:30pm at Pinnacle Bank Arena.  Grand Island Central Catholic will play Bishop Neumann at 5:30pm at Lincoln North Star and Superior will play Freeman at 5:30pm at Lincoln Southwest.     .
