Georgia is still ranked number one in the latest AP College Football Poll. The Bulldogs are 8-0 on the season after last weeks 34-7 win over Florida. Cincinnati is ranked number two followed by Alabama, Oklahoma and Michigan State. Rounding out the top ten are Ohio State, Oregon, Notre Dame, Michigan and Wake Forest. Iowa is 19th and Penn State is number 22.

The Nebraska football team is now 3-6 on the season, 1-5 in the conference after Saturday’s 28-23 loss to Purdue. Nebraska quarterback Adrian Martinez threw four interceptions, including two in the fourth quarter. He entered the game with just three interceptions all season. The Huskers outgained the Boilermakers 399-349. Luke Reimer led the defense with a career high 19 tackles. All six of Nebraska’s losses this season have been by one score. Nebraska will play host to Ohio State on Saturday. Kickoff will be at 11:00am.

The Nebraska men’s basketball team beat Colorado 82-67 yesterday in an exhibition game at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Bryce McGowens led four Huskers in double figures with 15 points. Nebraska will open the season on November 9th against Western Illinois.

The Nebraska women’s basketball team will tip off their season tonight with an exhibition game against Midland University at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The Huskers were 13-13 last year, 9-10 in the conference. The Warriors are 2-0 on the season after beating Presentation College and Haskell Indian Nations University in the C3 Tip-Off Classic in Hastings over the weekend. Tip-off will be at 7:30pm. We’ll have it on KHAS Radio 1230AM and 104.1FM beginning with the pre-game show at 7:00pm.

The Nebraska volleyball team lost to Minnesota in a five set marathon on Saturday. The scores were 22-25, 30-28, 21-25, 25-23, 9-15. Lexi Sun had 12 kills and two blocks for the Huskers. Lindsay Krause had 12 kills and six blocks. The Huskers are now 16-5, 10-2 in the conference. They’ll play at Illinois on Thursday.

The Hastings College football team notched their second win of the season on Saturday with a 28-21 win over Mount Marty in Yankton. Tyree Nesmith finished the game with a career high 242 yards rushing on 26 carries with two touchdowns. Garrett Esch had four receptions for 153 yards and two touchdowns, including a school record tying 99 yard scoring strike in the second quarter. Tydus Clay and Mason Catterson led the defense with nine tackles apiece. Hastings will play Midland on Saturday. Kickoff will be at 1:00pm at Lloyd Wilson Field. Pre-game show begins at noon on KHAS Radio  1230AM and 104.1FM KHAS.

The Hastings College men’s basketball team went 2-0 in the C3 Tip-off Classic over the weekend beating Presentation College 77-71 and Friends University 82-65. Hastings will play in the Cattleman’s Classic in Seward this weekend. The Hastings College women beat Presentation 78-59 and Haskell Indian Nations University 88-72. Hastings will host Peru State tonight. Tip-off will be at 6:00pm.

The Hastings College women’s soccer team beat Dordt 4-3 on Saturday. The Broncos will be the number three seed for the conference tournament and will play host to Concordia on Thursday.

The Hastings College volleyball team dropped a five set match to Morningside on Saturday. The scores were 25-21, 19-25, 26-28, 25-16, 9-15. Amani Monroe had 13 kills and five blocks for the Broncos. Hastings is now 14-13, 5-10 in the conference and will play at Concordia on Tuesday.

The Nebraska-Kearney football team lost to Northwest Missouri State 66-13 on Saturday. The Lopers are now 7-2. The volleyball team beat Missouri Western State on Friday and Northwest Missouri State on Saturday. The Lopers are now 2-5. The women’s soccer team lost to Emporia State 4-1 on Sunday. The Lopers finish the season 2-16, 1-10 in the conference.

The Tri City Storm beat Omaha 5-0 on Friday and 2-1 on Saturday. The Storm will play at Sioux City on Saturday.

Adams Central, St. Cecilia, Grand Island Northwest, Kearney Catholic, Grand Island Central Catholic, Superior and Sutton have all qualified for the state high school volleyball tournament that gets underway on Wednesday at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.

NFL> In the NFL last night, Dallas beat Minnesota 20-16. Backup quarterback Cooper Rush completed 24 of 40 passes for 325 yards and two touchdowns, including a five yard fade to Amari Cooper with 51 seconds to play for the Cowboys. Starter Dak Prescott did not play because of a calf injury. Earlier in the day, Denver got by Washington 17-10. Tonight, the New York Giants play at Kansas City. Kickoff will be at 7:15pm. Pre-game show begins at 6:30pm on ESPN Tri-Cities.

MLB> The Houston Astro’s are still alive in the World Series after beating Atlanta 9-5 on Sunday. The Braves still lead the series 3-2. Game six is coming up tomorrow night in Houston.

NASCAR> Alex Bowman won the NASCAR Race yesterday in Martinsville. Kyle Larson, Chase Elliot, Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Junior will run for the championship this Sunday in Phoenix,.

FB> Gary Patterson is out after 20 years as the head football coach at TCU. He went 181-79 with the Horned Frogs with 17 bowl appearances.
