Nebraska remains sixth in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll.  The Huskers are 24-6 on the season.  Stanford is ranked number one followed by Minnesota, Illinois, BYU and Texas.  Rounding out the top ten are Nebraska, Penn State, Wisconsin, Creighton and Kentucky.


The Nebraska volleyball team picked up two more weekly Big Ten honors after the final week of the regular season.  Mikaela Foecke has been named the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week, her fourth award this season.  Lauren Stivrins has been named the Co-Defensive Player of the Week, her third overall honor this year.  Nebraska opens NCAA Tournament play against Hofstra on Friday at 7:00pm at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.  We’ll have it on “The Breeze,” KLIQ 94.5FM beginning with the pre-game show at 6:04pm.


James Palmer Junior scored 14 of his game high 20 points in the second half, as Nebraska picked up a crucial road win with a 68-66 victory over Clemson in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.  Palmer hit 8 of 14 shots from the field and grabbed a career high nine rebounds, while Isaac Copeland Junior totaled 16 points, six rebounds and three assists.  Glynn Watson Junior was also in double figures with 12 points and four rebounds.  Nebraska hit 47 percent of their shots in the game, including 7 of 22 from three point range.  The Huskers are now 6-1 on the season and will begin conference play on Sunday against Illinois.  Tip-off will be at 4:00pm at Pinnacle Bank Arena.  Pre-game show begins at 3:00pm on “The Breeze,” KLIQ 94.5FM.


Nebraska running back Devine Ozigbo has accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Football game to be played on January 19th at Tropicana Field in Tampa, Florida.  Ozigbo rushed for one thousand 82 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Huskers this season.  He was Nebraska’s first one thousand yard rusher since Ameer Abdullah in 2014.


The Hastings College women’s soccer team lost to Keiser University of Florida 3-0 yesterday in the NAIA National Championships in Orange Beach Alabama.  The Broncos end the season 17-1-3 and will go down as the first women’s soccer team to go unbeaten in regular season play.  Hastings was also the first team to win the conference regular season crown and conference tournament crown since 2011.


For the fourth straight year, the Hastings College volleyball team will play in the NAIA National Tournament.  The Broncos open pool play today against Ottawa of Kansas.  Hastings is 19-6 on the season.  Ottawa is 27-10.  First serve will be at 11:00am at the Tyson Events Center.  Hastings will play Trinity Christian on Wednesday and Missouri Baptist on Thursday.


The Nebraska-Kearney men’s basketball team will come off of a holiday break tonight with a game at Wayne State.  The Lopers are 3-2 on the season and have not played since beating Colorado Mines 67-60 on November 18th.  Tip-off will be at 7:00pm.  The UNK women’s basketball team will play host to Manhattan Christian on Wednesday.
