Local Sports 11-30-2020

Alabama remains number one in the AP College Football Poll.  The Crimson Tide are 8-0 on the season after Saturday’s 42-13 win over Auburn.  Notre Dame is second followed by Ohio State, Clemson and Texas A & M.  Rounding out the top ten are Florida, Cincinnati, BYU, Miami and Indiana.  Northwestern is 16th, Wisconsin is 18th and Iowa is number 24.


Nebraska is now 1-4 on the season after Friday’s 26-20 loss to Iowa.  The Huskers produced 338 yards of total offense, while holding the Hawkeyes to 322 yards.  Adrian Martinez completed 18 of 20 passes for 174 yards.  Wan’Dale Robinson caught nine passes for 75 yards.  He also rushed for 42 yards on six carries.  Luke Reimer led the defense with 12 tackles.  Nebraska will play at Purdue on Saturday.  Kickoff will be at 11:00am.  Pre-game coverage begins at 6:00am on The Breeze 94.5.


Nebraska has lost defensive back Ronald Delancy to the transfer portal and has also lost defensive back Ladarius Webb, who has announced his intention to decommit from the Huskers.  Delancy has not played significant time for the Huskers this season, but did get a little bit of action on defense and special teams in games against Ohio State, Northwestern and Penn State.  Webb was rated as the number 132 cornerback in the nation and spent his senior season at Jackson Academy in Mississippi.


The Nebraska men’s basketball team beat North Dakota State 79-57 on Saturday in Lincoln.  Teddy Allen led the way with 22 points.  Trey McGowens had 19.  Delano Banton had 12 points and nine rebounds.  Nebraska is now 2-1 on the season and will host  South Dakota on Tuesday.  Tip-off is set for 8:00pm.  We’ll have the game on KHAS Radio beginning with the pre-game show at 7:00pm.


The Creighton men’s basketball team opened the season with a 69-58 win over North Dakota State yesterday.  Christian Bishop had 16 points for the Jays.  Creighton will host Omaha on Tuesday.


The Hastings College women’s basketball team is now 2-2 on the season after Saturday’s 71-62 win over the College of St. Mary’s  Kaitlyn Schmit scored a career high 23 points for the Broncos.  Hastings hit 43 percent of their field goals in the game, including 12 of 20 from beyond the arc. The Hastings College men and women will entertain Concordia on Wednesday.  The women’s game will be at 6:00pm with the men to follow at 8:00pm.  Pre-game coverage begins at 5:45pm on KHAS Radio and hastingslink.com.


NFL> In the late NFL game last night, Green Bay beat Chicago 41-25.  Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdown passes and surpassed 50-thousand passing yards for his career.  Green Bay is now 8-3.  Chicago falls to 5-6.  Tonight, it’s Seattle at Philadelphia.  Kickoff will be at 7:15pm.  Pre-game show begins at 6:30pm on ESPN Tri-Cities.
