HS. HOOPS> The boys state high school basketball tournament gets underway today in Lincoln. On The Breeze 94.5, Grand Island Central Catholic will play Auburn at 9:00 a.m.this morning followed by Blue Hill and Falls City Sacred Heart at 10:45 a.m. At 1:45 p.m., it’s Sutton against Yutan followed by Adams Central and North Bend Central at 3:30 p.m. We’ll have three games on Power 99, Elm Creek will play Nebraska City Lourdes at 9:00 a.m., Kearney will take on Omaha South at 3:30 p.m.and Loomis will battle Osmond at 8:45 p.m.

HUSKERS> The Nebraska women’s basketball team will play Purdue tonight in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis. The Boilermakers beat Illinois in a play-in game last night 72-60. Nebraska has beaten Purdue twice this season, 84-64 in West Lafayette and 67-61 in Lincoln. The winner will play third seeded Rutgers on Friday. Tip-off will be at 7:30 p.m. We’ll have the game on ESPN 1550 KICS beginning with the pre-game show at 7:04 p.m. In the other games today, Michigan State will play Northwestern at 11:00 a.m.followed by Wisconsin against Ohio State at 1:00 p.m. Indiana will play Minnesota at 5:30 p.m.

The Nebraska men’s basketball team will close out the regular season on Sunday by hosting Iowa. The Huskers are 15-15 on the season, 5-14 in the Big Ten Conference after Tuesday’s 91-76 loss to Michigan State. The Hawkeyes are 21-8, 10-8 in the league. Tip-off will be at 1:00 p.m. We’ll have it on 1230AM KHAS and The Breeze 94.5 beginning with the pre-game show at noon.

BRONCOS> The Hastings College women’s basketball team will play Aquinas of Michigan today in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament in Sioux City. The Broncos are 19-12 on the season and are making their 19th appearance in the national tournament. The Saints 25-8 and are making their eight appearance. Hastings beat Aquinas 76-61 in the C3 Hotel and Convention Center Thanksgiving Classic at Lynn Farrell Arena. Tip-off is at 5:15 p.m. We’ll have the game on 1230AM KHAS beginning with the pre-game show at 5:00 p.m.
In action yesterday, Concordia blew out Wilburforce of Ohio 100-62 and Dordt lost to Indiana University Northwest 86-72. In the men’s tournament in Sioux Falls, Dakota Wesleyan beat Warner of Florida 79-65 and Jamestown rolled past Southeastern of Florida 106-85.

LOPERS> The season is over for the Nebraska-Kearney women’s basketball team. The Lopers lost to Missouri Western 55-47 last night in the first round of the MIAA Tournament in Kansas City. The Lopers end the season 15-14.
