The Nebraska baseball team will play Kansas State at Hawks Field tonight. The Huskers are 20-10 on the season, 10-2 in the Big Ten Conference after a three game sweep of Penn State over the weekend. The Wildcats are 16-21, 3-6 in the Big 12 Conference. They took three of four games from Texas over the weekend. Nebraska beat Kansas State 7-0 on April 2nd in Manhattan. First pitch will be at 6:35pm. We’ll have the game on 1230AM KHAS beginning with the pre-game show at 6:04pm.

Nebraska will pay its basketball assistants a total of one million dollars for the 2019-2020 season, the second most of any school in the Big Ten. Mike Abdelmassih will make 380-thousand dollars. He’ll be the second highest paid assistant coach in the Big Ten, trailing only Ryan Pedon at Ohio State, who makes 395-thousand dollars a year. Former Nebraska head coach Doc Sadler will make 320-thousand dollars a year. Armon Gates, who was retained by new head coach Fred Hoiberg will make 300-thousand dollars a year. Gates made 256-thousand dollars on Tim Miles’ staff. Special assistant Bobby Lutz will make 150-thousand dollars. The one million dollar salary pool for the three Nebraska assistant’s ranks second only to Ohio State, which pays its three assistants 1.02 million dollars. Indiana ranked third at 890-thousand.

Jerrod Zens hit an rbi walk off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Dakota Wesleyan a 3-2 victory over Hastings College in the first game of a doubleheader played yesterday at Duncan Field. Grant Svec was the losing pitcher giving up eight hits while striking out four. The Broncos managed only three base hits in the game. Dakota Wesleyan won the nightcap 9-5. Ryan Ohnoutka had three hits and an rbi for the Broncos. Austin Vitosh was the losing pitcher. Hastings falls to 7-26 on the season, 2-17 in the conference. They’ll look to end their 15 game conference losing streak when they play Mount Marty on Friday in Yankton.

The Hastings High baseball team beat Twin River 11-0 yesterday.  The Tigers are now 10-3.  They’ll play Bellevue East this afternoon.  The Chieftains are 8-7.  First pitch will be at 4:30pm. We’ll have the game on 1230AM KHAS beginning with the pre-game show at 4:15pm.

In high school baseball last night, Grand Island beat Lincoln North Star 8-0. The Islanders are now 9-5. Millard North beat Kearney 8-3. The Bearcats are now 9-5. In girl’s high school soccer, Lexington got by Northwest 3-1 and Lincoln Southwest edged Kearney 1-0.

Adams Central won their own golf invitational yesterday at the Southern Hills Golf Course. The Patriots finished with a team score of 316. Hastings High was fifth with a 366. John Pohlson and Nolan Sughroue finished tied for second individually with a 77. Brayden Scrham of Hastings High was 12th with an 86.
