Noah Fant of Omaha South became the first Nebraskan selected in the first round of the NFL Draft in more than three decades. The Denver Broncos drafted Fant, who starred as an Iowa tight end, with the 20th overall pick last night. It’s the first time a Nebraska high school graduate went in the first round since Kelly Stouffer of Rushville and Danny Noonan of Lincoln Northeast were selected in the first round of the 1987 draft. Fant caught 78 passes for one thousand 83 yards and 19 touchdowns for the Hawkeyes.

The Nebraska baseball team will play Illinois in a three game series this weekend. The Huskers are 22-14 on the season, 11-4 in the Big Ten. The Fighting Illini are 26-13, 6-6 in the league. Tonight’s game gets underway at 7:30pm. We’ll have it on 1230AM KHAS beginning with the pre-game show at 7:04pm.

The Nebraska softball team will play Maryland in a three game series this weekend. Tonight’s game will begin at 5:30pm.

A group of seven distinguished Husker student-athletes and coaches make up the 2019 University of Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame class. In honor of the University’s 150th Anniversary, this year’s class includes two special athletes and coaches who will be inducted as pioneers, Ed Weir and Carol Frost. Other inductees include Rhonda Blanford Green, Greichaly Cepero, Wes Suter and Grant Winstrom. Legendary men’s gymnastics head coach Francis Allen will also be honored.

The Hastings College baseball team will close out the season this weekend with a four game series with Briar Cliff. The Broncos are 9-28 on the season, 3-20 in the conference. The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 4:00pm and another doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 1:30pm. We’ll have the action on 1230AM KHAS.

The Hastings College softball team will also play host to Briar Cliff this weekend. The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon beginning at 1:00pm at the Smith Complex.

The Hastings High baseball team beat Grand Island 8-2 last night at Ryder Park. The two teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader on Tuesday, but only one game was played. But, since the game was originally scheduled as a doubleheader, the Nebraska School Activities Association would have counted the missed game as a forfeit for Hastings if it wasn’t made up. So, they made it up last night, after Grand Island beat Lincoln Southwest 7-3. Hastings is now 13-6 and will play at Branched Oak tonight. Tomorrow, Hastings will play host to Auburn beginning at 11:00am at Duncan Field. We’ll have the game on 1230AM KHAS beginning with the pre-game show at 10:50am.

Adams Central won the St. Cecilia Golf Invitational yesterday at the Southern Hills Golf Course. The Patriots finished with a team score of 324. Grand Island Central Catholic was second with a 336. Franklin came in third with a 369. Nolan Sughroue of Adams Central had the low round with a 74.

The Nebraska Danger will play Cedar Rapids tomorrow night at the Heartland Events Center. The Danger are 4-4 on the season. The Titans are 1-7. Kickoff will be at 7:05pm.
