The Nebraska baseball team scored six runs in the fourth inning on its way to a 9-5 win over Purdue yesterday to complete a three game sweep. The Huskers scored 39 runs against the Boilermakers, their most in a Big Ten three game series since joining the conference before the 2012 season. Nebraska has now won 11 of their last 13 games and remain a perfect 8-0 at home this season. Reece Eddins was the winning pitcher. He went five innings and gave up four runs and six hits. Aaron Palensky had four hits and three rbi’s. Nebraska is now 17-9 on the season, 7-2 in the conference. They’ll play host to Creighton tomorrow beginning at 6:30pm.

The Nebraska softball team was swept by Northwestern over the weekend at Bowlin Stadium. The Huskers are now 13-22 on the season, 2-7 in the conference. They’ll play at Creighton on Tuesday. First pitch will be at 6:00pm.

Hastings College men’s basketball coach Bill Gavers continues hot on the recruiting trial. Gavers has signed Mason Hiemstra of Alliance to play for the Broncos next season. Hiemstra averaged 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists per game last season. Hastings has also signed Ashton Valentine of Hastings St. Cecilia. Karson Gansebom of Bennington and Bragen Meyer of Milford in the past week.

The Hastings College baseball team continues to struggle. The Broncos dropped an 8-7 decision to Morningside on Saturday. The second game was rained out. Sunday, Hastings lost two games to Midland 9-5 and 6-3. Hastings is now 5-22 on the season, 2-13 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. They’ll play York College tomorrow night at Duncan Field.

The Hastings College softball team went 1-3 over the weekend. The Broncos split a doubleheader against Dordt on Friday and lost two games to Northwestern on Saturday. The Broncos are now 10-14 on the season, 2-6 in the conference. They’ll play host to Nebraska-Kearney on Tuesday.

The Nebraska-Kearney softball team went 2-2 over the weekend. The Lopers took two games from Northwest Missouri State on Saturday and lost two games to Missouri Western State on Sunday. UNK is now 12-18, 8-8 in the MIAA.

The Hastings High baseball team scored five runs in the fifth inning to beat Norfolk 6-2 on Saturday at Duncan Field. Mike Boeve was the winning pitcher. He gave up two runs and two hits while striking out six. Mason Brumbaugh had a two run double. Hastings is now 7-1 on the season and will play Guardian Angels Central Catholic at 4:30pm this afternoon. We’ll have the game on 1230AM KHAS beginning with the pre-game show at 4:15pm.

Baylor won its third national championship in women’s basketball last night with an 82-81 win over Nortre Dame. Tonight, its the men’s championship as Texas Tech will play Virginia. Tip-off will be at 8:20pm. We’ll have it on ESPN 1550 KICS beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30pm.
