Former Husker James Palmer Junior has joined the summer league roster for the Phoenix Suns.  In his senior season, Palmer averaged 19.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game.  He went undrafted earlier this month.  That means there will be at least two former Huskers playing in the summer league.  Isaiah Roby, who was drafted in the second round of the NBA draft by Dallas, will play in the summer league with the Mavericks.  The Las Vegas summer league will run from July 5-15.


Nine individuals and one team will be inducted into the Hastings College Hall of Fame this fall.  The list includes former coaches Mike Trader and Dan Kratzer, along with athletes Bo Bienkowski, Celeste Bauer Hawley, Mark Lamb, Chad Spady, Bob Smith, Ronnie Taylor and Dick Peterson.  The 1995 men’s basketball team will also be inducted.  The ceremonies will take place on October 12th at Kiewitt Gym.


The Hastings Sodbusters split a pair of games from the Western Nebraska Pioneers last night in Gering.  Hastings won the first game 4-2, but dropped the nightcap 4-2.  Hastings is now 12-18 on the season and will play at the Fremont Moo tonight beginning at 7:05pm.


Hastings Five Points Bank split a doubleheader with Norfolk last night at Duncan Field.  Hastings won the first game 8-0 in five innings.  Riley Eckhardt went the distance and gave up only three hits with four strikeouts.  Ashton Valentine had three hits.  Hastings lost the second game 3-1.  Leif Spady took the loss.  Hastings could manage only five hits in the game.  Hastings is now 19-8 on the season and will play in the Grand Island Tournament this weekend.


Hastings Runza split a pair of games with Grand Island last night at the Smith Complex.  Grand Island won the first game 10-6.  Hastings took the nightcap 16-5.  Hastings is now 20-11-1 on the season and will play Grand Island and Aurora on Sunday at Duncan Field.


Hastings Johnson Imperial Homes will be in action tonight.  Hastings will play Lincoln Northstar in a doubleheader at Duncan Field beginning at 5:00pm.  Hastings is 23-6 on the season.


In other action last night, Kearney Post 52 took two games from Westco Express 10-0 and 14-3.  Kearney is now 15-11.


The Nebraska Danger will play at Arizona tomorrow night in the semi-finals of the IFL playoffs.  The Rattlers are 14-0.  The Danger is 8-7.  Arizona beat Nebraska 56-46 earlier this year.  The two teams have met in the playoffs one other time with a trip to the United Bowl on the line.  The Rattlers defeated the Danger 62-36 in the 2017 Intense Conference Championship game en route to their first IFL title and their sixth World Championship.  Kickoff wil be at 6:00pm.  In the other semi-final game, Sioux Falls will play at Iowa.


ROYALS> The Kansas City Royals open a weekend series with the Toronto Blue Jays tonight north of the border.  First pitch will be at 6:07pm.  Pre-game show begins at 5:30pm on “The Breeze,” KLIQ 94.5FM.
