Nebraska running back Maurice Washington is in trouble with the law again.  Washington was cited yesterday for possessing drug paraphernalia after campus police say they found him with a marijuana pipe.  Washington also faces charges in California over a separate incident.  He faces allegations that he forwarded a video of a minor performing a sex act.  Washington was a limited participant in the Huskers spring practice after playing in 11 games in 2018.  He ran for 455 yards and three touchdowns and caught 24 passes for 221 yards and another score.


Nebraska safety CJ Smith has entered the transfer portal.  Smith appeared in two games for the Huskers last season as a freshman before suffering a season ending injury at Northwestern.  He was in the process of rehabilitating from that injury this spring.  The Huskers lost another safety earlier this year when Cam’ron Jones transferred to SMU.


Former Nebraska-Kearney standout wide receiver Kyle Kaiser is one of 10 finalists for the 2019 Indoor Football League Hall of Fame Class.  Kaiser finished his career with 295 catches for 39-hundred 39 yards and 98 touchdowns for the Colorado Crush before retiring after the 2017 season.  Kaiser was a four time All IFL selection and the first receiver in league history to be named first team three consecutive years.


Junior infielder Breyden Eckhout of the Omaha Mavericks was named to the NCAA Baseball Los Angeles Regional All Tournament team.  Eckhout hit .500 with four hits and three runs scored in two games at the regional, two of the hits were home runs.  Eckhout finished the 2019 campaign with a .293 batting average, 55 hits, 33 runs scored, 21 RBI’s and four home runs.


Hastings Five Points Bank beat North Platte First National Bank 8-2 last night at Duncan Field.  Riley Eckhardt was the winning pitcher.  He went five innings and gave up two runs and four hits.  Jake Shaw had two hits and two rbi’s for Hastings.  JT Cafferty had one hit and two rbi’s.  Hastings is now 9-1 on the season and will play Kearney Runza tonight at 7:30pm.  We’ll have the game on 1230AM KHAS beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15pm.


Hastings Johnson Imperial Homes lost to North Platte 5-4. Luke Kirkegaard was the losing pitcher after throwing one inning of relief.  Tristan Richman and Treyton Newman had two hits apiece.  Hastings is now 10-3 on the season and will play Kearney Post 52 at 5:00pm tonight.


Hastings Runza will be back in action tonight.  Hastings will play a doubleheader at Lexington beginning at 5:00pm.


In other action last night, Grand Island Home Federal split two games with Norfolk.  Grand Island won the first game 10-3, but dropped the nighcap 4-1.  Grand Island is now 2-4 on the season.  Grand Island Five Points swept a pair of games from Norfolk 5-1 and 15-3.


Kearney Runza beat Columbus 10-0.  Kearney is now 6-1.  Kearney Post 52 knocked off Columbus 7-3.  Kearney is now 7-3.


The Hastings Sodbusters lost to Casper 13-11 last night.  The Sodbusters are now 3-6 on the season.  The same two teams will play tonight beginning at 6:35pm in Casper.


ROYALS> The Boston Red Sox beat the Kansas City Royals 8-3 last night.  The Royals are now 19-41 on the season.  The same two teams will play at 7:15pm tonight.  Pre-game show begins at 6:30pm on “The Breeze,” KLIQ 94.5FM.


NBA> The Toronto Raptors and the Golden State Warriors will play Game 3 of the NBA FInals tonight in California.  That series is tied at a game apiece,.  Tip-off will be at 8:00pm.


NHL> Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals is set for tomorrow night in Boston.  St. Louis and the Boston Bruins are tied at two games apiece.  The puck will drop at 7:00pm.
