Anna Belle Israel, 85

August 30, 1933 - May 7, 2019

Anna Belle Israel, 85, Plantation, Florida passed away peacefully May 7, 2019,
surrounded by loving family. Born August 30, 1933, in Chicago to the Rev. Ross and
Clara Louthan, Ann later attended Randolph High School in Randolph, Nebraska where
she was an “A” student, cheerleader, and active in church, school, and community. She
attended Vennard College where she met Warthen “Buddy” Israel. Ann and Bud were
married in her father’s church in Randolph, on August 9, 1952. They had five children
and Ann was proficient in the many skills necessary for a thriving family: sewing,
cooking, knitting, cross stitch, growing and canning fresh produce, Den Mother to the
Cub Scouts. She was active as a minister’s wife, a role she loved and nurtured. Ann and
Bud served in the Methodist Conference at churches in Palmer, Benkelman, Milford,
Cozad, Hastings, Sargent and Gretna. Ann instilled a love of learning and reading in
every one of her children and grandchildren, reading to them for hours on end. Ann made
sure that every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild was made to feel special in the
Eyes of God. Anna Belle is survived by her husband Dr. Warthen T. “Bud” Israel;
brother William (Lavada) Louthan, Aurora, Colorado; son W. Stephen (Nancy) Israel,
Novato, California; son David (Sara) Israel, Moreno Valley, California; daughter
Deborah (Doug) Israel Wiens, Temecula, California; daughter Priscilla (Hamish) Israel
List, Plantation, Florida; daughter Elizabeth (Shawn) Israel Hartmann, Hastings,
Nebraska; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She
was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Clara Louthan, and sister Elsie May
“Mazie” (Lewis) Chesser. A Memorial Service will be held at Hastings First United
Methodist Church, 614 N Hastings Ave, Hastings, NE 68901 on Friday, May 17, 2019, at
11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. David McCarthy and Rev. Gerald Schwab officiating. Book
signing is Wednesday and Thursday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral
Home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later
