HASTINGS – Hastings City Councilman Paul Hamelink has been selected by Governor Pete Ricketts to serve on the Commission on Housing and Homelessness.
The commission provides advice to the government and the state on issues involving housing and homelessness in the state of Nebraska. Issues such as low income housing tax credits, workforce housing, and other subsidy programs to help provide for affordable housing.
Hamelink says he looks forward to serving on the board for his third time.
Well, I appreciate the opportunity to serve, both on the commission and on the state of Nebraska, and so I am pleased that they saw fit to give me another term, and hopefully we can continue to serve well in that role
He went on to say it’s a critical issue in Nebraska and in the city of Hastings. Saying that quality, affordable housing is critical to people with disabilities, seniors, and low income residents.
